Katelyn & Brandt's Western Inspired Engagement Session at Carter's Lake Dam
Katelyn and Brandt’s engagement session was such a blast! I’d never photographed at this spot before, so I was extra excited to explore a new location with them. And honestly, it couldn’t have been a better fit for their fun, laid-back personalities.
This shoot was extra special for me because Kate isn’t just any bride-to-be, she’s my sister’s very best friend. Getting to photograph her engagement photos felt so personal, and knowing Brandt over the years made it even sweeter. He’s always been such a good sport about letting me take his photo, and this time he really leaned into the fun of their engagement session.
Kate and Brandt showed up in the perfect mix of outfits that gave us all the vibes. For their first look, Kate kept it casual with jeans and a button-up shirt, while Brandt rocked a similar laid-back style. Then they switched it up. Kate looked stunning in a white dress paired with cowboy boots, and Brandt matched her energy with another outfit change. The cowboy boots were actually extra meaningful because the two of them had gone on a little date day to Boot Barn beforehand, where they picked out their boots and cowboy hats together. Those same boots and hats will also make an appearance on their wedding day, which makes their engagement photos even more special.
The session itself was full of laughs, sweet moments, and all the candid goodness. And fun fact—Kate is a photographer too! So not only did I get to capture her and Brandt, but she turned the camera on me and snapped some branding photos and headshots for me as well. Talk about a full-circle moment!
This western-inspired engagement session was the perfect mix of casual, fun, and meaningful. Between the outfit changes, the new location, and the sentimental details, I couldn’t have asked for a better day with these two.
